Hello Joel,

Thanks for your continued interest.

By project I assume you are referring to GSoC project. At this point GSoC 2021 was just recently announced. Our community has yet to decide what projects we’ll run or even if we will apply for GSoC 2021, and there is no guarantee that we’ll get accepted if we do apply. GSoC 2021 will be different from past years too, so it’s hard to predict at this point what we’ll be aiming for.

The primary goal of GSoC is to introduce new, diverse contributors to open source communities, and for those contributors to become a part of those communities. The point here is that it’s most important to become a part of the community, be engaged, understand the goals, the processes, the tools we use and etc. As I mentioned to you before, find something that you’re interested in contributing too, and reach out to those in the community involved with it to find out how you can best contribute.

Thanks
Justin

But nevertheless, I have two questions that I will really appreciate if I get answers. The first one is what is the format if one wants to write a proposal for project. The second one is, I wish to know if it is start looking at the past projects and try to solve them is the best way to start or not given thant I am new in the community.
