Fedora/CentOS vagrant boxes updated

Does this mean

 1. If your host OS is Linux 4.15, you need  VirtualBox 5.2.8, or
 2. If your Linux VM is Linux 4.15, you need  VirtualBox 5.2.8 ?

I suppose "both" is a possibility as well.

Put another way, my host is macOS (Hi Sierra).  Do I need to use
VirtualBox 5.2.8 when I upgrade to the latest Vagrant boxes?
