Blake,
The committers group voted on granting you commit access to the Fluid
repository. We voted -1. That said, we're committed to helping you get
to the point where we all feel confident in welcoming you as a
committer.
In general, there was a concern that much of the community is still
unaware of the VULab code. You're doing all the right things: posting
patches, sharing your knowledge (e.g. with our website), and talking
more openly about VULab. But it's too early. Most of the committers
group haven't had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with your
work and codebase, and we'd like to see more patches from you.
Things you can do to change the vote to +1:
1. Connect with other committers to get help and to review patches.
Jacob Farber, Eli Cochran, and Michelle D'Souza have all agreed to
lend a hand by reviewing your patches. They're happy to help and get
to know the code better, mentoring you along the way. So now you'll
have more eyes on your code, and more help getting your work into the
repository quickly.
2. Stay visible: send more frequent updates about the progress and
plans of VULab to the list. Stay in touch on the IRC channel and other
hot points for developer collaboration in the community.
3. Keep doing what you're doing: submitting patches, talking on the
list, etc.
I this vote isn't too discouraging for. We we all really impressed by
the work you've done to bring VULab out into the community. Keep it up!
Colin
