Hey all,
Some thoughts occurred to me while reading through the conversations
about date picker progress and Lovemore potentially lending a hand
with its development:
I think it's a good idea to not put too fine a point on this idea of
Date Picker being "out of design." In the natural life cycle of our
components, we tend to go through several design phases. We sketch
something early, implement, and keep the design process going
throughout. Jess, Daphne, and Michelle all collaborated to make these
drawings of how our process works, and Jess is planning to rework the
page soon:

Lovemore, we've got an awesome opportunity to kick start this process
if you're willing to try out some coding for Date Picker. This will
definitely be a back-and-forth process, and you'll undoubtedly get
support from the community as we go.
With that in mind, Date Picker inevitably still has a lot of design
work left to be done. I think it's clear that we're going to want to
delve more deeply into the really core issues--internationalization
and accessibility--before we're done designing this one.
We've created a lot of good refinements to the familiar date picker
idiom, but I think there's more to be done before it can really make
its mark as a Fluid component. Again, this is a natural part of the
process: date and time picking are hard problems, and we're going to
need to keep delving deeper and designing as we go.
Let's get started!
