Hi there,

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Open Source Design Pattern
Library meeting today. It was a very helpful initial meeting for me,
and I look forward to fleshing out our community process and working
on more design patterns in the near future. You can find the notes
from our meeting near the bottom of this page: http://
wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Open+Source+Design+Pattern+Library
+group+meeting+-+05-07-08. Feel free to add to or change them--I'm
not sure I got everything down correctly, but hopefully I got the
important points. If anyone would like to volunteer to be the note-
taker next time that would be great. :)

Some of the decisions we made at the meeting include:

1. NEXT MEETING
* Since we had no attendees that required such a late meeting, move
the meeting time to be at a better time for east coast folks and not
conflict with the Sakai UX meeting: let's try Wednesday, March 14th
from 10-11am PDT/1-2pm EDT. Do let me know if you have a problem with
this time and if there are enough requests, we can change the meeting
time either this week or next. We will start by having weekly
meetings and adjust as needed.
* Please use the following conference call line:
Toll Free Dial In Number:
(866)606-4704
Int'l Access/Caller Paid Dial In Number:
(309)495-0761
ACCESS CODE:
7532134
* If possible, please also log onto Fluid's Breeze teleconference
server (http://breeze.yorku.ca/fluidwork) during the meeting for
shared meeting notes and chat functionality.2

2. We will discuss many of the open questions around processes,
procedures, and community practices over the email lists and put the
answers we come up with on this wiki page: http://
wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/OSDPL+Discussion+Questions+and
+Answers.

3. I will send out a 'question of the day' (probably 2-3 a week) re:
design patterns and the group is invited so share short responses to
them on the mailing list. As we start converging on an answer, we can
"+1" or "-1" each suggestion and try to start reaching consensus that
way. Final decisions on each question will be determined at our
weekly meetings and documented on the above page: http://
wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/OSDPL+Discussion+Questions+and
+Answers. I'm guessing this process may generate somewhat high
traffic, so I'm wondering if we might want our own design patterns
mailing list for this?

4. Check out the preview version of the Open Source Design Pattern
Library at: http://uidesignpatterns.org! Though it is still a work
in progress, feel free to enter Sakai (or potentially those from your
group) design patterns there to see how the interface works. You
should expect to still see quite a few bugs and missing features at
this point.

5. Report bugs, problems, feature requests on the OSDPL at http://
issues.fluidproject.org. Be sure to tag it as the OSDPL component to
ensure we see it, and check: http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/
FLUID/component/10051 first to make sure your bug hasn't been
reported yet.

6. Would you like to help out with the OSDPL? Check out the UX:Design
patterns (http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/FLUID/component/
10030) & ODSPL (http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/FLUID/component/
10051) component task lists in JIRA and contact me to sign up to take
one on!

Thanks again, and I look forward to having more discussion on the
mailing list with you all shortly!

Allison
