I’m in full support of this!

Cheers,

Let’s switch to using “main”. It’s easy to do and more inclusive. https://dev.to/afrodevgirl/replacing-master-with-main-in-github-2fjf

While this has actually been in effect since Oct 1 I just now realized that by default GitHub creates new repositories using “main” instead of “master”. I’m not intending to weigh in on the naming debate here, but I do think we need consistency.

For details about the name change and how to manage it, see https://github.com/github/renaming

What I’d propose is that we pick a name that the community is most comfortable with. Below are the tasks to address after a decision is made.

Options:

  *   Keep Master:

     * Update the organization settings for the “Repository default branch” name
     * Change any newly created repos to use “master” as the default branch

  *   Use Main:

     * Update all existing repos to use “main” as the default repo
     * Update our individual forks as needed

  *   Use some other name:

     * Update the organization settings for the “Repository default branch” name
     * Update all existing repos to use “main” as the default repo
     * Update our individual forks as needed

Thanks
Justin
