New Floeproject.org wireframe and site map

Hello everyone,

Attached to this email is a PDF showing a wireframe of the Floe Project website. This is work in progress and focuses mainly on content layout and information architecture. I will describe the details of this work.

The goal of this redesign is two-fold:

  1.  Make the site mobile friendly
  2.  Ease navigation and content discovery with a modified information architecture

To accomplish this, much of the textual content of the home page is replaced by content "cards" ("cards" are short excerpts linking to the full content, and visually resembles a cue card). Cards are categorized into three main headings: News, Resources, and Tools. Toward the bottom of the home page is a fourth heading called "Projects" which lists a few of the current Floe related projects. Under each of these headings is a link to see an index of the relevant content such as an index of all news articles, or an index of all projects.

The site map / content structure is shallow:

  *   Level 1 - home
  *   Level 2 - News index, Tools index, Resources index, and About
  *   Level 3 - Individual news articles, or pages describing the tool or resource. Pages under about will include a contact page, and a project description page.

What's next? Currently I am seeking any feedback on the work so far. Does the content structure work, or is there a better organization? Does the content on the home page capture the breadth of activities under the Floe Project, or is there something missing?

I will begin working on wireframes for the individual content pages for news, tools, resources, and projects next.
