New Floeproject.org wireframe and site map

Hi Jon,

Thanks for working on this. It’s great to see our sites updated and getting a refresh.

I like how the site is moving towards a unified design with our other sites. It will help keep things cohesive as one navigates across them. In that regard I wonder if a similar layout/architecture to the IDRC site <https://idrc.ocadu.ca/> might help here. For example:

Put more information about FLOE on the landing page, maybe all of the “about” info if it isn’t too much.
Follow up with highlighted projects
Have three columns for resources, tools, and news

In the designs you’ve provided I find that the page feels long. The news takes the highest priority and the projects have been de-emphasized. Perhaps all of that was intentional, but there may be a way to give things easier access while highlighting a certain dimension.

The short description of FLOE says: “FLOE provides resources to personalize how we each learn and to address barriers to self-aware, life-long learning.” I’d expect those resources and etc to be highlighted, but the news is the primary focus.

The sort of tag line “Supporting learners, educators and curriculum producers in achieving one-size-fits-one learning design for the full diversity of learners” doesn’t really fit as placed. I’m not sure exactly, but perhaps re-wording or maybe grouping that with the “Designing for Diverse Learners” and expanding the description sentence with more info and moved into a section below.

Thanks
Justin

Cards are categorized into three main headings: News, Resources, and Tools. Toward the bottom of the home page is a fourth heading called “Projects” which lists a few of the current Floe related projects. Under each of these headings is a link to see an index of the relevant content such as an index of all news articles, or an index of all projects.
