Thanks for setting this up Gio. Something like https://github.com/42wim/matterbridge could be interesting if we decide to make us of Mattermost. It seems that it would allow us to work in Mattermost, but still have a presence in IRC for those that prefer to use that.

Thanks
Justin

There are some concerns that were raised during our discussions that I think would be solved by Mattermost (archiving, file sharing, flexibility, etc). Mattermost is an open source alternative to Slack, which is a collaboration platform that has been gaining momentum among some projects but is proprietary and tied to a single company (so there are concerns around its continuity, privacy, ability to migrated to another service, etc).

For more information about Mattermost, please visit: http://www.mattermost.org

Available integrations and client software: http://www.mattermost.org/community-applications

For anyone interested in trying it out, I've installed Mattermost for *demonstration purposes only* at the following address: http://i-0027.tor1.inclusivedesign.ca:8065/fluid-project (development mode, not all features enabled and the app will be recycled/deleted without warning if needed).

Feel free to create an account, play around and provide your feedback if it would fit your workflow, any concerns, missing features, how accessible it is (or is not), etc.
