Alternate UI kiosk design on paper

Good evening,
Thanks a lot for fixing that up.
A lot to think about here as far as serial or linear navigation goes
for designing the interaction model for users who require speech output.
These designs are making me think that if we were to flatten the
navigation we would end up with three or more dimensions of navigation.
Themes ->
Facets of a theme: Map, Gallery, Brochure ->
Actions within a facet: select a particular map or artifact
I am not sure how familiar, or comfortable, the average screen-reader
user is with This hierarchical paradigm of navigation. Perhaps it
isn't a problem, someone needing a research idea should jump on top of
this one (smile). I also don't know if we can expect our average
speech output user as having the familiarity with assistive
thechnology that the average screen-reader user has, not sure how we
can determine this, so we should design for lowest common denominator
(eas of use), to decrease the barrier to access caused by any learning
curve.
I don't think that the navigation model needs to be changed, I think
that we need to be aware of any complications it may cause, and
brainstorm for appropriate solutions.
I think that we need to assess the potential challenges and determine
an interaction model for users requiring speech output prior to
determining what method will be used to provide the speech output, as
the interaction model will contribute to the decision.
