Hi folks,
I recently did a re-organization and standardization of the pages in
the User Testing (How To's about User Testing, in the Design Handbook)
& Fluid User Testing (user testing performed in the Fluid project, &
its results) pages of the wiki. Any feedback on this reorganization
(and some new content I created) is very welcome, and definitely let
me know if you have other suggestions on ways to improve it!
You should now see a fairly consistent structure in the different
types of Fluid User Testing pages we're using, which include:
User Testing Summary Template
User Testing Round Template
User Testing Protocol Template
User Testing Results Template
All of these templates are linked from the User Testing page (http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/User+Testing
). When you create a user testing page please copy one of these pages
as a template to ensure they stay consistent. Instructions on how to
do this are at the bottom of the User Testing page in the "Creating
User Testing Documentation" section as well as on the Fluid User
Testing (http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Fluid+User
+Testing) page. I've also added instructions for folks outside the
project who would like to use our templates on how to convert any of
these templates to a Word document.
When creating Fluid User Testing pages, please follow this process:
1) Create your pages by copying the User Testing Templates (above)
2) Add links to your page on the Fluid User Testing page (http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Fluid+User+Testing
)
3) Add tags to all your user testing pages to properly identify them.
Tags are being used to create several different pages and lists, so
it's important to add them.
You can look at a similar page to find out what tags to use, or refer
to this list of potential tags:
user_testing - for all user testing content pages (e.g. http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/User+Testing+Methods)
and User Testing Summary Pages (e.g. http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Date+Picker+User+Testing)
completed_user_testing - for User Testing Round pages, e.g. http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Date+Picker+Paper+Prototype+User+Testing+-+Round+1
planned_user_testing - for User Testing Round pages for which we have
user testing actually planned (note that these two are not mutually
exclusive)
user_testing_needed - for User Testing Round pages that we'd like
volunteers or others to help out with (note that these two are not
mutually exclusive)
user_testing_protocol - for Protocol pages only, e.g. http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Date+Picker+Paper+Prototype+User+Testing+-+Round+1+Protocol
user_testing_results - for Results pages only, e.g. http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Date+Picker+Paper+Prototype+User+Testing+-+Round+1+Results
user_testing_doc - for documents which may be used during user testing
-- will be listed in the Fluid User Testing Resources on this page: http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/User+Testing+Resources
Let me know if you have any questions or comments--thanks!
