customBuild tests and code

Hi all,

I've made a few more changes to the tests and code for the customBuild 
component that merit some code review.

In customBuild-tests.js I've altered the way that expected values are 
determined - corrected some long standing bugs in the way this was done. 
This has allowed us to add more test input data.

In customBuild.js, just a few small edits as per a discussion that 
Justin and I had July 21st. These included fixing a spelling error in a 
function name and a couple of other small edits.
