We had Preferable in our 2-4-x build, but AFAIK it has never worked for 2-5-x:
http://jira.sakaiproject.org/jira/browse/SAK-11411
We liked the approach and ability for users to do some customization of their own look & feel. If it were more actively maintained, we might consider moving it into production.
Cheers

I did the RSF port during a standard 4 hour friday night coffee house
session. I think someone might need to look at the
(Prefer|Transform)able Service itself, because the JSF one didn't seem
to be working. But there is a stub where you can fill in the service calls.
I'll have to go back to a flash drive from a few OS Upgrades ago to find
the code and check it in. Should be able to do it sometime today, and
then someone can fill in the calls to the TransFormable Service.
