Inline Edit: changing focus cancels edit?

I could see a situation in which someone using a screen reader might  
press enter to start editing, and then the screen reader starts to  
read the contents of the field, and the user, who knows the contents  
and wants to change it anyway, might press escape to shut the screen  
reader up.
