If you are wondering what the domain of "user experience" currently
encompasses (from the point of view of one organization that is very
involved in the area, at least), check out the UIE (Jared Spool)
article on "Assessing Your Team's UX Skills": http://www.uie.com/
articles/assessing_ux_teams/.
The article gives an overview of what they call Core UX skills (e.g.
information architecture, user research, visual design, interaction
design, etc.) and Enterprise UX Skills (development methods, web
analytics, ethnography, marketing, etc.), and is a nice description
of the breadth of skills I think many consider to fall under the
umbrella of "user experience."
